Charitable Support
When you purchase from Ora Online NZ a percentage of your purchase is donated equally between two people or kaupapa that we nominate at the beginning of each MÄori new year, Matariki.
Those who receive our charitable support are selected because they are people who have a track record of working tirelessly and in a significant way to help others, often at their own cost. These people epitomise Ora Online's belief that "it feels good to do good".
Our recipients for 2024/2025 are; Matua Hone and Whaea Faith Taimona and Eva Gregory-Hunt.
Matua Hone & Whaea Faith Taimona
Hone and Faith have worked in the far north of Hokianga, Aotearoa for decades providing support to local families in need even when there is no funding to do so. In more recent times they have also dedicated themselves to ensuring their succession plan helping others to grow their expertise and care in rongoÄ MÄori services. They have had a profound impact on bringing their healing community together to service their communityâs need in this space. We are delighted to support them both in their work by helping to âheal the healersâ.
Eva Gregory-Hunt
Eva is a tireless worker in her community and has made great personal sacrifice to help others in the Chatham Islands. If something needs fixing then Eva is your person. She will never walk away from someone in need. Until recently she could be found mowing the local church lawns, driving the local ambulance and caring for the elderly and unwell where she can. Always giving, recently Eva has taken up a 6 month volunteer residency on the Mercy Ship serving the people of Sierra Leone, https://cic.govt.nz/your-council/news-and-events/2023/volunteering-aboard-the-global-mercy/. We are delighted to be supporting her in this adventure of a lifetime.Â
